Curtis
Robinson

High White Noise Inc. is the creative home of Curtis Robinson, one of the nation’s more prolific media producers. Curtis’ first newspaper start-up was in grade school and over the decades he has helped launch more than a dozen newspapers, created many websites and even produced a couple of documentary films. These days, he is focused on issue-centric documentary and podcast projects including Hunter-Gatherers, which focuses on stories about his longtime friend, Hunter S. Thompson.

“You know, it's the volume. The Internet is probably the first wave of people who have figured out a different way to catch up with TV -- if you can't be on TV, well at least you can reach 45 million people [on the Internet].”

― Hunter S. Thompson,
Interview, The Atlantic, 1997

Projects

While an independent producer, High White Noise Inc. endeavors to work with a variety of partners across the creative landscape. Current projects and partners include the Hunter-Gatherers podcast of Hunter S. Thompson stories with Rhino Films; a documentary on the odd world of competitive barbecue (spoiler alert: it’s not like on TV), principal photography began in July 2019); and a Paul Johnson Films limited series on “flown-over America.”

"... It is hard to find anybody from coast to coast who feels any real sense of Winning or Losing in this thing. Nobody is afraid. There are no marching songs, none of that high white noise and wild music that comes with the feeling of risk in the air -- 'Big Doings" as they say in the hills -- when the fat is in the fire and the deal is going down and the only thing for sure is that a lot of people are going to wish that wolves had stolen them from their cradles when the votes get finally counted...."

Author and White Noise Connoisseur
